Problem:
Sun City’s swimming pools have been chlorinated with chlorine gas. The pH is consequently lowered by this continuous dosing of the gas. In order to raise the pH, soda-ash has been added. The dosing of both chlorine gas and soda-ash was manually adjusted and as a result the chemical balance in the water has never been ideal. These imbalances resulted in a waste of chemicals, inconsistent results and a possible threat to Sun City’s international image.
